Nurturing Lives, Upholding Dignity: Our Commitment to Care
At Aldbourne Nursing Home, our philosophy of care is based on the belief that every resident deserves to live with dignity, respect, and happiness. We are dedicated to offering personalised care that goes beyond simply meeting basic needs, aiming to enrich the overall quality of life for each individual in our care.
We take a holistic and compassionate approach, recognising that true well-being requires attention to physical, emotional, and social needs. Our goal is to create an environment where residents feel valued, supported, and empowered to maintain their independence and pursue activities that bring them joy.
Our dedicated, stable, and long-serving team is the bedrock of our community. Each of us is dedicated to delivering compassionate care and becoming a consistent and meaningful part of our residents’ lives. Everything we do is centred on fostering an environment where residents feel valued and connected to a thriving community.
“I am well and loving it here, with a weekly quiz (I recently came 3rd), and other events and outings - I went to a racing stables two weeks ago, and last week to an open-air concert round the pond in Aldbourne.”
Brenda, Resident

Our Care
We provide nursing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure every resident feels valued, respected, and truly at home, while recognising that this journey affects not just the individual, but their entire family circle. Our approach combines professional expertise with compassion, protecting residents dignity and independence while providing the support they need to live and thrive.
Understanding that families are an integral part of our residents’ lives, we actively embrace them as members of our extended care family with comprehensive support systems, including family counselling services, and encouraging involvement in care planning.
“My Mum had spent the previous 30 years since being widowed, and living along, determined to never, ever enter a Care Home....determined to only stay 2 weeks for respite. However on the same day as she moved in she texted me at 5:30pm to say "Love it, like to stay for good. B xxx" and she did.”

Respite Care
Our respite care service offers temporary relief and assistance for individuals and families. This flexible care option is designed to provide a nurturing environment for those recovering from illness, injury, or surgery, as well as offering a much-needed break for caregivers and families. Our team provides personalised care focused on rehabilitation, promoting recovery, well-being, and peace of mind during their stay.
“The most impressive thing from a GP point of view is how organised the staff are and how well they know the patients. This makes it so much easier for us as doctors to care for the patients because we can trust the nursing staff.”

Nursing Care
Our nursing care provides 24/7 nursing care support and personalised assistance to ensure comfort, safety, and well-being. This is delivered by a dedicated, highly qualified team under the expert supervision of our Clinical and Registered Managers.
With a reputation for excellence, we combine professional nursing skills with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and care that goes beyond medical attention. Our team strive to create a warm, family-like atmosphere where every resident is known and cherished as an individual.
Our staff take pride in remembering the little details that make each person unique, from their favourite foods to their personal stories. We celebrate birthdays with homemade cakes and mark other special occasions. This personalised approach means residents aren’t just receiving clinical care; they feel part of a community where staff know them, their families, seemingly small gestures are the magic that brings joy to their day.
“The staff know all the residents extremely well and seem genuinely concerned about their well-being, always acknowledging them when they pass by and very reactive to their needs. This is clearly helped by having staff that have worked in the home for a number of years and minimal use of relief workers.”

“The opportunity to share my love of baking with the residents has been both a privilege and enlightening. Memories from their family lives are evoked with favourite recipes requested.”

Palliative Care
At our nursing home, we offer compassionate and comprehensive palliative care that focuses on enhancing the comfort and quality of life for residents facing serious or life-limiting illnesses.
We ensure each resident receives a uniquely tailored care plan prioritising pain management, emotional support, and dignity. We work closely with families to ensure that their loved ones receive the best possible care, addressing not only physical symptoms but also emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Our approach emphasises comfort, respect, and peace, helping residents live as comfortably as possible while supporting families through this difficult time. Through personalised care, we aim to create an environment where both residents and their families feel supported, valued, and at ease.
We also partner with local priests and spiritual leaders to provide guidance, prayers, and sacraments for those who wish to receive them, ensuring a sense of peace and connection. From pain management and symptom relief to emotional support, we are here every step of the way in a warm and supportive environment.

Family Support
Entrusting a family member can be an emotional and challenging journey. Our team is here to offer guidance, reassurance, and open communication every step of the way. We are always available to address concerns, answer questions, and involve families in care decisions when appropriate.
Our goal is to ensure that families feel connected, informed, and supported as valued members of our resident community, fostering a sense of partnership in their relative’s care.
Additionally, we assist families in navigating the complexities of funding support for care, ensuring access to the resources and financial options available.

GP’s & Holistic care team
We are very fortunate to have a strong working relationship with the local GP surgery in Ramsbury. In addition to our weekly visits from our dedicated GP, a doctor is always available to visit when needed, providing prompt and exceptional medical support to our home.
By working closely with a range of clinical professionals, including SALT, Prospect Hospice, Tissue Viability Nurses, Parkinson’s Specialist Nurses, Dieticians, Wheelchair Services and the Mental Health Team, we provide a holistic approach tailored to meet each resident’s individual needs.
At no extra cost, our physiotherapist assesses and supports our residents, working closely with them, as well as with carers and nurses, to create tailored plans that promote mobility, strength, and overall well-being.
