Day out to Cotswold Animal Park

Activities Programme

Our Activities Programme offers a wide range of exciting and engaging experiences for our residents. We organise regular outings to the village and surrounding areas, including visits to the bluebell woods, a local racing yard, charming cafes, pubs, and tea in local gardens. In the warmer months residents enjoy various community events like concerts on the village green, featuring the Aldbourne Brass Band (ranked in the top 10 internationally), The duck race in the village bourne, The Scarecrow Trail and The Aldbourne Carnival.

We invite a variety of visitors to our home to enrich our residents’ lives. These include the local primary school children, ‘Dinkie Ponies’, retired racehorses, birds of prey, dancers, and various musicians. Our residents particularly enjoy regular activities such as bingo, exercises, and quizzes, which bring a sense of community and well-being.

Arranged outings include:

  • A relaxing barge trip on the River Kennet.
  • Visits to local garden centres
  • Trips to the Cotswold Wildlife Park
  • Drives through the enchanting Bluebell Woods in season or walks through the Snowdrop woods at Welford Park.
  • Visits to a local horse racing yard to meet the horses, sheep dog and a cup of tea or Champagne.
  • Outings to the church or one of the local cafés, or pubs for a change of scenery and socialising

Our connection with St. Michael’s Church is particularly special, with regular visits from the church community and participation in seasonal services and events. During major celebrations like Christmas and Easter, our residents enjoy being part of the wider village, whether through in-home carol services or special church visits.

We have built strong links with St. Michael’s primary School, hosting activities with the students who regularly visit our residents. These visits often include shared reading sessions, craft activities, and musical performances.

“The building itself has been extended to maximise comfort and dignity of the customers and the nursing staff and carers are dedicated to the wellbeing of their customers.”
